Waikato Ethnic Council Incorporated

The Waikato Ethnic Council Inc. is a charitable organisation registered under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. One of the aims and objectives of WEC among other things is to help resettle migrant and refugee communities in New Zealand. WEC also runs and facilitates programmes for new settlers on basic living skills and adaption in New Zealand. WEC encourages cultural awareness among all ethnic groups and facilitates integration, goodwill and harmony.

The Council consists of an executive committee that is elected for one year period. The executive committee has twelve office bearers; President, Vice President, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity officer, Past President and four members representing different activities or subcommittees.

The committee has regular meetings once a month and also has special meetings whenever it becomes necessary. Council meetings are held quarterly, attended by two delegates of each ethnic community who are members of the council.
